Classification and installation and usage methods of torque sensors

Torque sensors, also known as torque sensors, torque sensors, torque sensors, and torque meters, can be divided into two categories: dynamic and static. Among them dynamic torque sensors can also be called torque sensors, torque speed sensors, non-contact torque sensors, rotational torque sensors, etc.

(1) Two major classifications of torque sensors

Dynamic torque sensor is a precision measuring instrument that measures various torques, speeds, and mechanical power. The application scope is very wide, mainly used for detecting the output torque and power of rotating power equipment such as electric motors, engines, internal combustion engines, etc; Testing of torque and power of fans, water pumps, gearboxes, and torque wrenches; Testing of torque and power in railway locomotives, automobiles, tractors, airplanes, ships, and mining machinery; Detection of torque and power in sewage treatment systems, etc.

Static torque sensor is an instrument that converts the strain generated by torsional torque into an electrical signal linearly related to it based on the principle of resistance strain. This product has mature manufacturing technology, complete varieties, wide range, high accuracy, and stable and reliable performance.

(2) Installation and usage methods of torque sensors

1. The torque sensor can be installed horizontally or vertically

2. Power equipment, sensors, and load equipment should be installed on a stable foundation to avoid excessive vibration otherwise data instability may occur, measurement accuracy may be reduced, and even sensors may be damaged.

3. Use elastic pin couplings or rigid couplings for connection.

4. The middle part of the sensor cannot be rigidly fixed, and flexible connections should be used

5. The concentricity of the axis of power equipment, sensors, and load equipment should be less than ± 0.03mm.

6. When sensors are used vertically, there should be supporting partitions at the input and output ends to prevent the sensor from being subjected to the gravity of the power source and load, ensuring measurement accuracy.

In addition, when using a torque sensor, the following precautions should also be taken:

If it is required that the axial direction of the transmission system is not extended due to the installation of sensors, a smart coupling can be used - it can detect torque and take on the function of the coupling. It is a type of coupling with detection function.

When the tested transmission system cannot be extended but can be disassembled, a set type torque sensor can be used - it can be tested by fitting it onto the tested shaft.

When the tested transmission system is neither allowed to be extended nor disassembled, a card mounted torque sensor assembled on site can be used. The test can be conducted by clamping it onto the shaft from both sides. It can be monitored for a long time or tested for a short period of time. Similar to a current clamp meter.

When some testing systems have both torque and axial force, torque, speed, and axial force three parameter sensors can be used;

Bearingless torque speed sensors can be used for testing at high or ultra-high speeds.

If the tested system is in a non rotating state, a torque sensing transmitter can be used.

If the maximum value of the tested system is between 5mN · m and 1N · m, a small range torque speed sensor can be used.
